The Short Answer: Libra Until the October 22-23 Switch, Then Scorpio
Libra covers October 1 through the Libra-to-Scorpio switch. It began back in September, so an early October birthday falls comfortably within Libra's part of the calendar.
Scorpio begins at the October 22-23 switch, continues through October 31, and carries on into November. If your birthday is October 22 or 23, the date alone may not settle your sign because the transition can fall on either day.
Most quick-reference tables print Libra as September 23-October 22 and Scorpio as October 23-November 21. That shorthand is a useful convention, but it is not a fact that applies to every birth year.

Those windows describe the month accurately for a quick lookup. A boundary birthday needs one more piece of information: the birth year.
Is October 22 or October 23 the Cutoff?
Both dates can be correct in different years. October is unusually close to an even split, which surprised me when I counted the boundary dates year by year instead of relying on the familiar printed range.
Across 2016-2030, using US Eastern dates, the switch falls on October 23 in eight of the fourteen years whose date is settled in the site's table: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2026, and 2030. It falls on October 22 in the other six: 2016, 2020, 2024, 2025, 2028, and 2029. The 2027 date is still pending verification in that table, so it is excluded rather than guessed.
That makes October 23 a bare majority among the settled years, not a universal rule. The common table is rounding, and here the rounding misses often enough that a boundary reader should not use it for a personal answer.
Every sign boundary moves by about a day from year to year because the solar year does not fit the calendar year evenly, and leap day resets the difference; the full explanation is in why the switch date moves by about a day.
The switch itself is one instant, so in some years it falls on October 22 in Eastern time and October 23 in UTC, including 2025 and 2029. That time-zone difference is another reason a responsible month guide gives October 22-23 as the boundary window.
