November has two zodiac signs: Scorpio's exact dates by year cover the first part of the month, and Sagittarius's exact dates by year take over around November 21-22.
The exact switch day depends on the birth year, so I use a two-day window and point boundary birthdays to a checker rather than pretending one printed date works every year.
I don't read daily horoscopes; I like the zodiac as a mirror, not a map. Even with that light approach, I want the calendar answer to be accurate.
The Short Answer: Scorpio Until the November 21-22 Switch, Then Sagittarius
Scorpio covers November 1 through the November 21-22 switch. It began during October and ends when the Sun enters Sagittarius. Sagittarius starts at that switch, covers the rest of November through November 30, and continues into December.
The familiar shorthand gives Scorpio as October 23-November 21 and Sagittarius as November 22-December 21. That is a useful convention for a quick chart, but it is not a fact that holds for every birth year. If your birthday falls well inside either part of November, the short version answers the question.
If it is November 21 or 22, keep the answer open until you check the year.

The shared November boundary is always written here as November 21-22. That window is more useful than a single date because it tells you immediately when a birth year may matter.
Is November 21 or November 22 the Cutoff?
Both dates can be correct in different years. Across 2016-2030, using US Eastern time, the switch falls on November 21 in eight years: 2016, 2017, 2020, 2021, 2024, 2025, 2028, and 2029. It falls on November 22 in six years: 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2026, and 2030.

That near tie is mildly delightful to me because it makes the weakness of a fixed-date chart unusually easy to see. The widely copied statement that Sagittarius always starts November 22 describes the less common result within this period, not a safe default. November is therefore one of the least suitable months for trusting a date printed without a year.
A fixed chart is not necessarily lying. It is rounding. Here, though, the rounding is close enough to a coin flip that choosing November 21 or November 22 as the universal cutoff gives some readers the wrong answer.
Every sign boundary moves by about a day from year to year because the solar year does not fit evenly into the calendar year and leap day resets the difference; the dedicated explanation covers why the switch date moves by about a day.
The switch is one instant, so in some years it falls on November 21 in US Eastern time and November 22 in UTC. That happened in 2017, 2025, and 2029 within the period reviewed. It does not mean there are two switches.
It means the same moment can have different calendar dates in different time zones.
For a November 1-20 or November 23-30 birthday, none of this creates a practical puzzle. It matters when the birthday sits directly inside the November 21-22 window.
